Born in Paterson, Carrick was a longtime resident of Midland Park, then a resident at the Atrium, in Allendale. "She was a dedicated and caring English teacher for 43 years at the Midland Park and Allendale school districts," information from the funeral home noted. "Music was her passion."
She also directed many choirs, including that of the Church of the Nativity, where she was a longtime parishioner, and the United Methodist Church, both in Midland Park.
Carrick enjoyed reading, Wii Bowling and playing cards, and she "will be remembered for her amazing Italian meals that everyone loved," the funeral home added. "Virginia touched many lives and will be greatly missed."
She is survived by her children, Debbie Lalumiere and Jim Carrick; grandchildren Walter Lalumiere, Lauren Maher, and Meghan, Caitlin and Jamie Carrick; and great-grandchildren Emilie and Nate Lalumiere, and Shayla McCann and Connor Maher.
Carrick was preceded by her parents, James and Grace Brucato.
A funeral mass was celebrated on Friday, Jan. 13, at Guardian Angel Church, in Allendale. Interment was in Maryrest Cemetery, in Mahwah. Vander Plaat Funeral Home, in Wyckoff, assisted with arrangements.
