The borough was listed Wednesday in LendEDU’s “Safest Small Towns in the United States.”
The website based its rankings on 2015 FBI crime statistic data on the number of violent crimes per 1,000 residents.
"Waldwick is built on traditions and family values," said Mayor Thomas Giordano.
He added that residents take pride in having a community that is safe, beautiful and protected by a great police department.
A small town is defined as having a population between 5,000 and 10,000 people.
Waldwick has 9,997 residents.
“It is clear that Waldwick has created an environment for families to feel safe,” said Tom Flynn of LendEDU.
“Needless to say, these results are important, and I’m sure the community will be excited to see the ranking.”
Norwood, which has a population of 5,843, also was ranked among the most safe in the U.S.
