Upper Saddle River Cares Oktoberfest Helps Those In Need

UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. -- A special organization that helps Upper Saddle River families in crisis is holding an Oktoberfest this weekend.

The USR Cares all-ages community block party, from 1-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Lions Park, will feature bands, a Defiant Brewery biergarten, food trucks, a hay maze, tractor rides, as well as more than 30 local vendors and more (see video above).

The money will go toward families in need, including two who lost both parents recently.

Members of "The Doctors" TV show will be at the event, as well as at the home of two boys whom USR Cares has been helping.

USR Cares describes itself a "a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to helping expand the safety net for residents of Upper Saddle River when faced with a catastrophic event or illness.

"The mission of USR Cares is to have a centralized place where families or individuals can contact in times of need.

"USR Cares will also act as a resource for residents to help them find assistance and solutions to specific needs.

"USR Cares has a network of volunteers they can reach out to when needed, including USR community organizations, businesses and volunteers with special skill sets."

Assistance includes not just financial support but also grocery shopping, rides, visiting, phone calls, meal delivery and more.
