The open house coincides with National Fire Prevention Week and the event was held in partnership with the Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
The open house, held at the Ho-Ho-Kus Fire House, 52 Sheridan Ave., featured a number of activities for kids, including live fire-hose target practice. Firefighting coloring books and toy fire helmets were distributed.
Ho-Ho-Kus firefighters displayed their advanced firefighting and live-saving capabilities in a series of demonstrations, including a vehicle extraction simulation.
“Sparky,” the Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department mascot, wason had for autographs and photos.
Since 1911, the Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department has been fully staffed by volunteers.
