He put up an umbrella on his chair on Park Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.
“The sun is reflected off the snow and you get a double intensity of the sun,” said Petersen, an Athabaskan Indian who hails from Fort Yukon.
“That’s why I’ve got the umbrella up.”
Back home, he said, March and April were muskrat and beaver hunting seasons — and the snow and sun conditions were about the same.
It’s a lot more populated here, though.
The Fort Yukon population is about 500 people, he said.
