Hawthorne native Andy Swankie, 67, has sold his popular Godwin Avenue eatery so he could spend more time with his family -- especially his 5-month-old grandson, northjersey.com reported.

Swankie — a Hawthorne native who bought the place in 1977 — taught himself to cook and honed his culinary skills at the Goffle Grill in Hawthorne and the Hen’s Roost in Oakland, the article says.

A luncheonette has continually operated at the Andy's location since 1939 and was originally part of a bowling alley, Midland Park Lanes, which is now occupied by V & S Floor Covering Inc., northjersey.com said.
