An emergency gas leak shut down a Morris County intersection and evacuated two homes on Friday, May 26, according to police and developing reports. Initial and unconfirmed reports said a gas line was struck on Mt. Pleasant Avenue in East Hanover around 10:30 a.m., requiring crews to clear two homes. A Morris County man is seeking clues after a pickup truck ripped through his backyard and destroyed a large portion of his fencing, leaving a mirror behind in the process. Gerard Patrizio of East Hanover says the backyard and fence of his River Road home were damaged by a navy blue Ford pickup truck between 7:30 and 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. The truck just missed the home’s back driveway and almost drove into the in-ground pool, Patrizio said. Police: SUV Goes Up In Flames After Driver Swerves To Avoid Deer In East Hanover
A 22-year-old SUV driver hit a tree after swerving to avoid a deer, causing the vehicle to go up in flames in a fiery East Hanover crash Thursday morning, authorities said. The crash occurred near the intersection of Herman Street and River Road around 4 a.m., East Hanover Police Sgt. Thomas McPartland told Daily Voice. The vehicle — a 2007 GMC Yukon — became engulfed in flames after hitting the tree near 189 River Rd., McPartland said. The driver was able to escape the vehicle with a minor head injury and refused additional medical treatment, McPartland said.

Fireworks Left In Garbage Ignite East Hanover House Fire
Fireworks left in a garbage can outside ignited a house fire in East Hanover. No injuries were reported in the Monday night blaze, which brought first responders to 124 River Road, local police said.
