Local authorities said there is no security risk and are concentrating on more important matters, the DailyRecord reports.
Councilman Jeremy Jedynak, now mayor, said the investigation was a priority being that the laptop and iPhone potentially held "sensitive information," the report says.
Business Administrator Patricia Seger, however, said they were mainly used for sending emails.
Police Chief Martin McPartland said the department did everything in its power to locate the devices, which have since been filed as lost. The case may be reopened in the future, but not in the immediate future.
All service to the phone and laptop have been turned off, the report says.
