Rabid Skunk Found In South Jersey A skunk has tested positive for rabies in Camden County, authorities said. On Saturday, Jan. 27, a Haddonfield resident observed their dogs with a skunk in their yard. The Animal Control Officer for Haddonfield picked up the skunk and arranged for rabies testing. There was no known human exposure to this skunk. The only potential exposure was the resident’s dogs. On Wednesday, Jan. 31, the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services was notified that the animal was rabid. First NJ Case Of West Nile Virus Detected In Camden County A Camden County resident who tested positive for West Nile virus is the first person in New Jersey to come down with the mosquito-borne illness this year, authorities said. There have been 69 cases in 16 states nationwide with the most in Arizona, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
