200-Person Car Meetup Dispersed By Troopers At NJ Business Center: Police A nearly 200-person car meetup brought authorities to a Burlington County business center over the weekend. More than 200 vehicles were gathered at the Hainesport Commerce Center when New Jersey State Police troopers responded around 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17, NJSP Detective I Jeffrey Lebron said. According to abc7, the crowd shot off fireworks, some of which came dangerously close to hitting spectators. "Due to the police presence, all vehicles departed the scene without incident," Lebron said.

Husky Frightened By Fireworks Rescued 1.5 Miles Off Jersey Shore (Photos) A Siberian Husky fleeing from noisy fireworks was rescued by Monmouth County Sheriff's Officers off the Jersey Shore. Caiden, a 10-year-old dog, was saved after swimming about a mile and a half off Union Beach, authorities said. Sheriffs' Officers Michael Forgione and Kasey Collins located Caiden and brought him on board in the Raritan Bay, navigating shallow waters to reunite him with his grateful owner. The day-long Fourth of July event is making its big return this summer after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, according to its website. With a steady decline in New Jersey's coronavirus cases, "it is the perfect time to bring Oceanfest back,” Co-chair Esther Cohen told NJ Advance Media. Fireworks Caused Blaze At South Jersey Goodwill Store: Report A 56-year-old South Jersey man set a Goodwill store on fire, by mistake while shooting off fireworks, NJ Advance Media reported. Patrick J. Fanning, 56, of Washington Township, was charged with arson and aggravated assault, after a volunteer firefighter was injured while dousing the fire on Jan. 15 on Washington Township (Gloucester) around 4 a.m., the outlet said. The store's donated items including clothing suffered extensive smoke damage, authorities said. Party-Goers Don't Realize NJ House Is On Fire, Good Samaritan Dials 911 Well over 100 attendees at an Englewood 4th of July party apparently didn't realize the house was on fire until a passerby dialed 911, neighbors said. The good Samaritan said she "happened to be walking my grandson" on West End Avenue when she "saw the left side of the house on fire" around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. "There were a lot of drunk people -- like, 150," a witness said. "Nobody noticed." No serious injuries were reported.
