'Fully Engulfed:' Christmas Eve Fire Destroys South Jersey Home A Christmas Eve fire ravaged an Atlantic County home. The Great Creek Road home was fully engulfed in flames when police arrived to the scene at 12 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 24, Galloway Township police said. All of the residents as well as pets had safely evacuated as numerous fire departments arrived, police said. The roadway was closed for approximately three hours on Great Creek Road between Sylvan Ave and Pitney Road.  No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation by Detective Fenil Gandhi. Atlantic City Woman, 57, Struck, Killed While Helping Stranded Motorist At Route 30 Crash Scene A motorist who stopped to help another motorist involved in a crash was struck and killed in South Jersey, authorities said.  Atlantic City police were called to Route 30 on a report of a collision about 10 p.m. Wednesday, a department spokesman said. Responding patrol officers found  that a Jeep SUV operated by an unidentified driver, 35, from Atlantic City, struck a center median and became disabled in the left lane of eastbound traffic.
