A Gloucester County man was accused of having sexually explicit conversations online with a teen who he asked to meet at a park near his home, authorities said. Jeremy Slickerman, 33, of West Deptford, was arrested at his home on Friday, March 15, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release on Tuesday, Mar. 19. Slickerman was charged with third-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Police in South Jersey are trying to locate a 9-year-old girl who they say was picked up by her mom in North Jersey and hasn't been returned. Athena Worthy-Miles' mom, Dasia Serrano-Worthy, picked her up from her grandmother's house on 74th Street in North Bergen on Saturday, June 17 at 2:30 p.m., police in West Deptford say. According to Athena's father, Dasia does not have custody of Athena and has not returned her, police said. Dasia also disconnected her phone and no one has been able to contact her, police said. A 25-year-old South Jersey man was sentenced to time behind bars for trying to purchase sexual images from a 12-year-old Massachusetts girl, authorities said. Nicholas D. A 34-year-old man from Gloucester County has been sentenced to 80 years in New Jersey state prison for beating his parents to death and then covering their bodies with laundry, NJ Advance Media reports. There's been an outpouring of community support for the families devastated by a deadly fire that destroyed their homes in West Deptford Thursday. The fire broke out around 4:15 a.m. Thursday on the 1300 block of Tatum Street in West Deptford and spread to a neighboring home, leaving one woman dead and four others hurt. Search For Boaters In Delaware River Turns To Recovery Mission
The search for boaters who went missing when their vessel capsized over the weekend on the Delaware River has turned to a recovery mission, authorities said. A peeping Tom installed mirrors so he could spy on girls in the bathroom stalls at a South Jersey middle school, authorities charged.
