The frigid temperatures served some skiers and snow boarders well at Mountain Creek. The Vernon resort cranked out some fresh powder to open one slope last Saturday and Sunday (both days a high of 38 degrees), the earliest opening in Mountain Creek history. Several species of small wasps that attack the eggs of a tree-eating beetle found in North Jersey were released last weekend within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, according to a recent report. A 34-year-old father of two was killed in a motorcycle crash in Rockaway. A resident called 911 after a black 2009 Harley-Davidson driven by James Reddy of Hamburg crashed on the front lawn of a Green Pond Road home around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said. A West Milford High School gym teacher was arrested Friday by authorities who said he tried to get a student to send him pornographic videos.
