Police ID Three 20-Somethings Killed In High-Speed South Jersey BMW Crash
Three people in their 20s were killed in a South Jersey crash early Saturday, Aug. 17, police said.
A 2006 BMW operated by Ian P. Rodriguez, of Millville, was heading west on Mayslanding Road at a high rate of speed when it suddenly left the roadway to the right on the approach of Panther Road around 8:25 a.m., Vineland Sgt. N. Dounoulis said.
The vehicle struck a utility pole, lost control, and overturned while striking an irrigation winch located on the farm field on the northwest corner of the intersection, Dounoulis said.

An 11-year-old boy was hospitalized in a Ridgewood crash Monday, July 29, police said.
A Honda minivan and BMW sedan collided around at the intersection of First Street and North Maple Avenue around 5 p.m., Ridgewood Police Capt. Glenn Ender said.

Family Of Essex County Mom Paralyzed By Falling Pole Gets $125M Verizon Payout
In what is reportedly the largest settlement in New Jersey history, the family of an Essex County mom who was paralyzed by a falling utility pole will get $125 million from Verizon, reports say.
West Orange mom Maria Moser Meister, 50, was waiting for a bus on her way to work when a the pole fell in Union City on Jan. 23, 2017, NJ.com reports.
The pole, which was co-owned by Verizon through an agreement with PSE&G, was rotted at the base and snapped after 43 years, causing lifelong injuries to Meister’s body and head.
