Police in northwest Bergen County and Rockland have alerted their communities to remain vigilant after two vehicles were stolen near the state line. Video shows a thief testing three cars -- all locked -- on a quiet street in the village of Airmont before quickly moving on to a neighbor's house, Ramapo police said. UPDATE: A 29-year-old Airmont man captured by a team of law enforcement agents on Tuesday robbed four banks in Bergen, Rockland and Dutchess counties of $233,000 in all, often by claiming to have a bomb and once by pointing what appeared to be a weapon, authorities said. Police are seeking the public’s assistance as they investigate a purse snatching case in which a woman grabbed a pocketbook from a shopping cart at a Rockland supermarket. Paterson Man Stabs Co-Worker During Argument In Hillburn
Ramapo police arrested a Paterson man after he stabbed a co-worker during an argument at a warehouse in Hillburn. Officers responded to a call for a fight in progress at the warehouse around 1:30 p.m. Monday at 230 Route 59, according to Ramapo Police. Upon their arrival, a 41-year-old employee at the warehouse told officers he had been stabbed by another employee, police said. Video: Watch Dramatic Swan Rescue In Ramapo
Officers from the Ramapo Police Department made a special save on Sunday night, helping to rescue a swan that required some assistance after sustaining an injury to its leg. In the video, volunteers can be seen capturing the injured swan on Spook Rock Road before helping the bird into a cage. The swan was then transported to a rehabilitation farm, where it will be treated by experts for a broken leg. A Monsey man was arrested after entering a Rockland County home and refusing to leave. The incident happened around 8:15 p.m. Sunday when the Ramapo police department received a frantic 911 call from a home in the Village of Hempstead, the department said on Facebook. Motorists traveling through Ramapo have been advised to avoid Montebello Road as crews continue cleaning up the area following the weekend Nor’easter. The Ramapo Police Department issued an alert cautioning that Montebello Road will be closed from Mile Road to North Airmont Road on Tuesday as crews complete tree removal in the area in advance of a second winter storm. Police said the roadway is expected to be closed until approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon. Motorists have been advised to seek alternate routes, if possible.

Mahwah Man Nabbed For Village Of Airmont Burglary
A 49-year-old Mahwah man is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into an Airmont business last month, police said. Officials from the Ramapo Police Department announced the arrest of the man - whose name has not been released - this week, following an investigation into the break-in on Feb. 10 in Airmont. The man faces charges that include third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and grand larceny. Following arraignment in the Town of Ramapo Court, the man was released on bail and is due back in court later this month to answer the charges.
