A 41-year-old Mahwah driver has been charged with felony manslaughter and related offenses in a fatal Hudson Valley, NY crash. Sherlyne Bazile was heading east in a 2012 Nissan Rogue on Route 59 in Ramapo, when she crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a 2021 Hyundai Sonata around 10 a.m. on Jan. 28, Ramapo PoliceLt. A gas station convenience store on Route 17 in Mahwah was robbed by an armed Rockland County man, authorities said Wednesday. Giacomio Frascone, a former home contractor from Airmont, remained held in the Rockland County Jail pending extradition to Bergen County to face robbery and weapons charges, among other offenses, Capt. Firefighters from Mahwah assisted their Rockland colleagues at the scene of a raging blaze that destroyed an iconic kosher supermarket on Thursday. Motty’s Supermarket on North Main Street in Monsey burst into flames as a Ramapo police officer who saw smoke approached shortly after 12:30 p.m., authorities said. A registered sex offender from Rockland County who spent a year in federal prison for assaulting a woman on a flight from Israel to Newark Liberty International Airport was sentenced Thursday to time served for sexually abusing a minor after his release, authorities said. The NYPD identified the man accused of attacking five people with a machete during a Hanukkah celebration at a rabbi's home in Rockland County late Saturday night as a Greenwood Lake resident. City police said they arrested Thomas Grafton, 37, after identifying the license plate on his Nissan Sentra as it crossed the George Washington Bridge around 11:45 p.m. Saturday. Teen Trio Caught After Fleeing Car Crash Into Pillar Of Airmont Home
Three teens were caught after fleeing the scene when a car stolen from a school parking lot crashed into the brick pillar in front of a house in the Village of Airmont early Saturday morning, Ramapo Police said. The trio fled the scene on foot prior to the arrival of the officers. There was substantial damage done to both the vehicle and the brick pillar. The three were located walking nearby and placed under arrest. It was later learned that the vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of a school in Monsey.

Police have shut down a roadway in Sloatsburg due to downed primary live wires. Ramapo Police closed Sterling Mine Road around 8:30 a.m. Monday after the fire department reported the downed lines. Motorists are asked to avoid the area for at least the next several hours as crews work to repair the lines, police said. New Driver Crashes Into Airmont Home
A new driver lost control of the car and crashed into an Airmont home. The incident took place around 4 p.m. Wednesday when the driver became confused and crashed a 2006 Toyota into the front area of the home on North Lorna Lane, said Ramapo Police. There were no injuries and the car did not enter the house. The driver was not issued any tickets, police said.

Many in the Hudson Valley are mourning the death of the man who was believed to be the world's oldest rabbi. Monsey residents can expect road closures and heavy traffic as thousands gather early Friday afternoon for the funeral of Rabbi Mordechai Hager, who died at the age of 95. Airmont Garage Fire Quickly Extinguished
Ramapo Police and the Tallman Fire Department responded to a garage fire Monday at a home on Ayr Court in the Village of Airmont.The fire, that began around 6:30 p.m., was quickly extinguished by firefighters from the Tallman, Suffern and Mahwah fire departments, said the Ramapo Police. During the fire, Ramapo police officers were quickly able to determine that all of the home's occupants escaped safely. Boy Hit By Cab In Monsey
A 12-year-old boy was hit by a cab in Monsey, injuring his leg, according to Ramapo Police. The boy was struck around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday by a livery cab at the intersection of Suzanne Drive and Maple Avenue, police said. The child, who complained of pain in his right leg was treated and transported by Hatzoloh EMS to Nyack Hospital, police said. No summonses or charges have been filed against the driver.

Suffern Man Sentenced For DWI Crash That Nearly Killed Victim
A Suffern man convicted last year of vehicular assault and DWI after leaving the scene of a crash that left a man seriously injured has been sentenced to five years in prison, according to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe. Jonathan Elwell, 36, was found guilty by a jury in September 2017 of felony assault, two counts of felony vehicular assault, and one count of leaving the scene of an accident.
