The widow of a North Jersey veterinarian who’d been known as the “animal whisperer” was arrested for continuing to operate his clinic without a license, authorities announced Monday.
Alia Muslih, 39, of Montclair was charged with animal cruelty, among other counts, after Passaic County prosecutor’s detectives raided the Totowa Animal Hospital along with local police, the DEA, the state Division of Consumer Affairs and animal control officers from Paterson and Clifton.

More than $20,000 worth of fish tank equipment was reported taken – along with $2,200 in cash and prescribed Oxycodone – during what a Glen Rock homeowner believes was a targeted burglary.
A friend who was checking on the house contacted the Nottingham Road homeowner after he discovered that a large fish tank in the basement had been tampered with, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
The owner reported lights, pumps, electronics and corals related to the maintenance of fish tanks stolen, along with the cash and pills.

A 68-year-old unemployed Dumont man was selling Oxycodone and other prescription drugs illegally, authorities charged after a raid of his home also turned up Suboxone, Diazepam, Zolpidem and baggies used to package them.

Wayne PD: Burglars Snatch Owner's Chain, Try To Take Drugs, Safe
WAYNE, N.J. -- A trio of Wayne police officers caught two burglars after they'd snatched a gold chain from the owner's neck and tried to steal prescription drugs and a safe, authorities said.
Responding to a home in the 1100 block of Valley Road on Monday afternoon, Officers Nicholas Henriquez, Colin Bush and Erik Ferschman found a large hole kicked through a rear door, Detective Capt. Laurence Martin said.
