Passaic County Health Department Worker Hospitalized After Ridgewood Crash A Passaic County Health Department employee was hospitalized after the SUV that she was driving was T-boned in Ridgewood. The worker had just visited a patient at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood when the crash occurred Sunday night, her brother said. The Chevy Blazer was headed eastbound on Linwood Avenue when it was rammed by a Jeep Wrangler headed south on Walthery Avenue shortly before 8:30 p.m. Oct. 8. The collision sent the county vehicle crashing head-on into a utility pole. Update: Fire Destroys Wayne Truck Repair Shop, Leaks Oil Into Ramapo River Flames ravaged a Wayne truck repair shop Monday night, responders said. Responders reported explosions at Vander Wiele Truck Service  in the Hamburg Turnpike shop between two self-storage facilities. “It appeared that the fire was ignited by sparks created during metal grinding work” in the shop, Wayne Police Detective Capt. Dan Daly said early Tuesday. Evacuations Ordered After Struck Canister Releases 'Vapor Cloud' Near Hawthorne Ballfield A "vapor cloud" released when a work crew accidentally punctured a buried canister containing a volatile chemical near a Hawthorne ballfield on Thursday. More than three dozen people were evacuated from nearby homes and businesses while the state DEP recovered the canister, which contained Methyltrichlorosilane, in an auxiliary parking lot, police Detective Sgt.
