Tappan Zee Bridge Jumper Hanging From Side Of Span Rescued By Responders
Responders rescued a jumper who was hanging off the side of the new Tappan Zee Bridge. The report of a jumper snagged near the northbound Tarrytown end of the bridge came in shortly before 10 a.m., Friday, May 27, bringing a huge contingent of emergency personnel, including the New York State Police Special Operations Response Team. Dehydrated Family Stranded On Cliffs Above Hudson Uses Cellphones To Send Distress Signal
Responders rescued a family of lost, dehydrated hikers stranded in the dark 350 feet above the Hudson River. It was the fourth rescue in just two weeks from cliffs along the Palisades between the George Washington Bridge and the Rockland County border. The original call of a hiker falling more than 40 feet brought Palisades Interstate Parkway Police, along with firefighters from Piermont and Nyack, shortly after 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Hudson River In Rockland
No one was injured when a small plane made an emergency landing in the Hudson River in Rockland County early Tuesday evening, authorities said. Piermont firefighters and EMS and Nyack firefighters were operating at the end of the pier while a Rockland County sheriff's Marine Unit towed the single-engine craft to shore, police said. The plane made the "controlled" water landing around 5 p.m. and was pulled from the water a little over two hours later, they said.

A now-former manager and two accomplices stole more than $150,000 worth of copper from a Closter hardware manufacturer and then sold it out of county, authorities said. Closter detectives charged Alvaro Baca of Roselle, Dimitris M. Hatsis of Norwalk, CT, both 27, and Eliseo Adorno, 47, of Nyack with theft and conspiracy, Detective Sgt. Vincent Aiello said Thursday. A 35-year-old man was killed after he was struck by a two-door sedan on Route 59 in Rockland on Friday, Feb. 16. At approximately 5:38 p.m. the Orangetown Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Route 59 under the NYS Thruway overpass in Nyack.
