: Suicidal Teen Rescued From Hackensack River For 4TH Time In Two Years
A troubled young local girl brought rescuers to a bridge over the Hackensack River for the fourth time in less than two years on Friday. And like twice before, she nearly drowned. The girl also had guardian angels on her side once again -- this time a group of New Milford police officers. The youngster, now 16, was sitting on the edge of the Old New Bridge when Lt. Dumont Man, 42, Struck, Killed By Freight Train
A 42-year-old Dumont man was struck and killed by a freight train at daybreak Monday, authorities confirmed. A northbound CSX train struck the man between West Madison and New Milford avenues around 6:30 a.m. April 1, Dumont Police Chief Brian Joyce said. "Our investigation supports that this was a suicide," the chief said. "Our department’s condolences are extended to the family." A 26-year-old New Milford man died by an apparent suicide when he was struck by a freight train overnight in Bergenfield, authorities said. Borough police were in the area of the railroad crossing at Church Street when the southbound CSX train "screeched to an abrupt halt" at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, Capt. William Duran said. A Bergen County Regional SWAT team seized a troubled man who'd barricaded himself in a Hackensack apartment on Saturday. The 21-year-old man's girlfriend called police to a Newman Street apartment in the Oratam Court development between Atlantic and Sussex streets -- which was the city's first public housing project when it was built in 1951 -- the morning of Jan. 27. A Pennsylvania State Police trooper was stabbed while serving a warrant for a New Jersey man in Berks County on Saturday, according to multiple releases by Trooper David Beohm. A 48-year-old man was found dead of suicide in a bathroom at a Bergen County park, according to multiple sources.
