Fair Lawn Officer Injured In Crash Pursuing Suspect Into Paterson A Fair Lawn police officer was injured in a crash while responding on Monday to a shoplifting at a local CVS. The officer was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with back pain after his unmarked car collided with an Acura RDX as he pursued one of two suspects across the Maple Avenue bridge over the Passaic River around 11:45 a.m., witnesses said. He was released a few hours later. The female SUV driver wasn't injured, witnesses said. Both suspects were taken into custody.

Computer Parts Container Slams Into Bridge, Topples Onto Route 208 A Route 208 overpass was none the worse for wear after a container of mostly recycled computer and electronic parts smacked into it and toppled over Wednesday morning. A wrecker was towing the roll-off container, which hit the Maple Avenue bridge on the northbound highway in Fair Lawn around 10 a.m. The crash also pierced the fuel tank, creating a diesel spill attended to by Fair Lawn firefighters. 3 Charged With Shoplifting From Fair Lawn CVS All Had Arrest Warrants, Police Say Three people arrested on shoplifting charges at the Fair Lawn CVS on the same day were all wanted by police on warrants.  The first incident took place on July 4 when Fair Lawn Police responded to the CVS at 18-35 River Road for a report of two men who had fled the store without paying for items, said Fair Lawn Police Sgt. Brian Metzler. While investigating the theft, Officer Stephen Buskiewicz approached two men matching the description on East 23rd Street in Paterson, but they fled on foot until eventually captured, Metzler said.
