A 21-year-old Jersey City man was charged with attempted murder after stabbing an out-of-town man who tried to stop him from breaking into cars on a Hoboken street, authorities said. Randy Barrett Jr. stabbed one of four men who confronted him near the corner of Fourth and Jefferson streets around 4:15 a.m. March 16, city police said. Sgt. A deejay from Paterson was one of five carjackers who robbed a victim at gunpoint in the Target parking lot along the Hudson River in Edgewater earlier this year, authorities charged. The death of a 50-year-old inmate at the Hudson County Correctional Center is under investigation. Corrections officers responded to the cell of Jason Sworn after his cellmate told them he had fallen out of bed and was complaining of chest pain around 10:45 p.m. Monday, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Charges were upgraded for a 44-year-old New Jersey dad and daycare worker whose 3-year-old son was found unresponsive and later tested positive for Methadone, authorities said Monday. A Jersey City man was charged with kidnapping, raping and killing a local nanny. Jorge Rios, 33, was arrested after the body of 45-year-old nanny Caroline Cano was pulled from a lake in Lincoln Park, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office announced Sunday morning. A Mahwah ex-con with a 25-year criminal history was arrested in Secaucus by police who said they found him with a woman’s purse stolen during a pair of car burglaries. Only just released from state prison six months ago, 45-year-old Christopher Murano was caught with the goods just before 1 a.m. last Tuesday, Secaucus police said.
