Mid-Atlantic Crime Ring Arrests For NJ Armed Robberies, Carjackings
An indictment of 16 members of a violent mid-Atlantic crime ring has been unsealed and the federal agencies are naming names.
Of the 16, eight of the alleged crime ring members were arrested in the morning on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, police in Fairfax County, Virginia announced later that day.
They were all arrested in connection to a violent crime spree that took place between Jan. 7, 2022, through Jan. 27, 2023.

Undeclared Anchovies Prompts Recall Of Pasta Sauce Sold At Some Wegmans Stores
A recall has been issued for a popular brand of tomato sauce sold at Wegmans supermarkets.
The manufacturer, LiDestri Foods, said 24-ounce jars of Wegmans Italian Classics Diavolo pasta sauce may contain undeclared fish (anchovy).
"People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to anchovy run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.," the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said.

Biden Pardons 6,500 Convicted Of Simple Pot Possession, Calls For Review Of Federal Law
President Joe Biden granted mass pardons to an estimated 6,500 people convicted federally of simple marijuana possession and urged all of the nation’s governors to do the same.
“There are thousands of people who were previously convicted of simple possession who may be denied employment, housing, or educational opportunities as a result,” Biden said during a video announcement Thursday afternoon, Oct. 6. “My pardon will remove this burden.”

Cannabis Edible Sales Surge Amid Coronavirus, Report Says
Here’s a first: More people who are legally buying marijuana products for recreational or medicinal use during the coronavirus pandemic are choosing drinks and edibles over smoke, a study shows.
Comparing sales from March 7-31 to the more than nine weeks before it, “cannabis-infused beverages jumped from 1% of overall sales to 14%, beating ‘flower’ sales, which is unheard of,” marketing firm Headset reports.
Edible sales grew the most, by 28% percent, it says.
Meanwhile, sales of pre-rolls and topicals dropped by 13% each, Headset reports.
Users are clearly stocking up, experts say.
