Worker Critically Injured In Explosion At Ramapo College
UPDATE: A construction worker was gravely injured in a pipe-valve explosion Tuesday morning at Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah, responders said. Mahwah firefighters carried the victim out after he was struck in the head and knocked out by a valve cap during a pressure test on an 8-inch water line on the second floor of the college library shortly after 8 a.m., they said. A helicopter was cancelled because of the weather and he was taken by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center with severe head trauma, responders said. UPDATE: More than a dozen families weren’t able to return to their homes until after 4 a.m. Saturday following a propane tank rupture that cleared a large Route 46 shopping center in Saddle Brook. Rockland Couple's SUV Tumbles Into Brook Between Shopping Center, High School In Montvale
A pair of Rockland County grandparents escaped serious injury when their SUV barreled over an embankment and into a brook Saturday afternoon at a shopping center in Montvale, authorities said. The husband apparently hit the gas instead of the brake pulling into a handicapped parking space in the parking lot of the Fresh Market bordering St. Joseph Regional High School on Chestnut Ridge Road Police Chief Joseph Sanfilippo said. School Mini-Bus Catches Fire On Route 17
Paramus firefighters doused a small blaze on a school mini-bus on Route 17 late Thursday afternoon. No children were aboard the bus when the interior fire broke out on the southbound highway near Midland Avenue. The driver wasn't injured. A popular Hillsdale firefighter was found dead in his SUV Thursday in the upper Hackensack River in River Vale after apparently suffering a heart attack, responders said. UPDATE: Hackensack firefighters doused a wind-driven blaze Friday night at a cosmetics factory. The three-alarm fire broke out at Biogenesis on Wysocki Place around 6:15 p.m. and collapsed part of the roof, responders said. Paint Thinner? Two Hospitalized By Fumes At Ridgewood Treatment Plant In Glen Rock
Two employees at Ridgewood’s wastewater treatment plant in Glen Rock were hospitalized Saturday morning after being overcome by fumes. Two Ridgewood Water employees and a Glen Rock DPW employee "detected a foreign odor coming from inside the treatment center and went inside to investigate" around 7:30 a.m., Glen Rock Police Lt. Yet Another Fire At Marcal, Arson Investigators Requested
Fire tore through an electrical room Tuesday in what’s left of the Marcal plant in Elmwood Park – bringing not only firefighters from several towns but also arson investigators from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
