Cinnella, who coaches baseball at Mahwah High School and is the founder of Upper Saddle River-based Professional Baseball Instruction (PBI), was a four-year starting pitcher for the Seton Hall Pirates.
“I am sure you’ve heard the saying, ‘Do something you like and you’ll never work a day in your life.’ I get to do something I truly love every day,” the Paramus native wrote on the website for PBI, where he and fellow coaches provide baseball training to athletes.
Before graduating from Seton Hall in 1986, Cinella earned 24 victories, 210 strikeouts and 11 complete games, according to the university. As a freshman, he tied the university’s record with 17 strikeouts in one game, and as a sophomore, he was named New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association Pitcher of the Year, according to Seton Hall.
The Baltimore Orioles selected Cinnella in the fourth round of the 1986 MLB Draft, and he went on to pitch Minor League Baseball for seven years.
