The 17-year old St. Joseph's Regional High School senior will showcase his vocals one last time as a high school student in "Urinetown" on Friday Night.
"I had to take voice lessons and dance lessons throughout high school to climb to this point," said McDonald, who will play the role of Officer Lockstock. "And now it is my last show and I am really going to miss everybody here."
Any time spent outside of the theater is usually spent inside the body shop, McDonald said.
McDonald relishes the opportunity to play a police officer because he would like to study pre-law in college.
"My interests are very different, but these are things I have always done and have a passion for."
McDonald grew up in Blairstown and moved to Mahwah before 7th grade. He became involved in choir in middle school, and then in theater once he enrolled at St. Joseph's in Montvale for high school.
"Urinetown" is a comedy that satirizes the legal system, capitalism, bureaucracy and municipal politics.
He hopes his final appearance on the high school stage will make everybody "rip-roar" with laughter.
"It is bizarre, truthful, and hilarious," McDonald said. "Definitely fun for everyone."
"Urinetown" will debut Friday, Jan. 22 and run several times through Jan. 30.
