RAMSEY, N.J. -- A young woman was killed Friday afternoon after she jumped into the path of an NJ Transit train in Ramsey, witnesses and authorities said.
"She just jumped on the tracks and boom!" a witness told Daily Voice just after the 3:25 p.m. incident between Morano's Market and Brady's At the Station restaurant on East Main Street.
Buses were on the way to transport the 500 passengers who were on the No. 99 express train that left Hoboken for Port Jervis at 2:41 p.m. before striking the woman, who walked into the train's path, NJ Transit's Jim Smith said.
The Main, Bergen and Port Jervis lines were suspended in both directions between Waldwick and Suffern.
