I was backstage at the Park Performing Arts Center in Union City, and I could see tears in the eyes of other parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, and uncles during Sunday night’s event. It indeed takes a family to produce such talent.
The young ladies, meanwhile, were thrilled to shine, displaying agility and grace in the Art of Dance — from ballet to musical theater, from flamenco, tap and jazz to hip-hop and Afro-Cuban, from rumba to salsa.
The graduates: Shantel Cordero, Vanessa Hernandez, Caridad Iparraguirre, Nicolette Lecomples, Stephanie Lopez, Gabriela Mendoza, Anaili Pacheco, and Lauren Rodriguez.
Responsible for the program were Director Oneida Quevedo and Co-Director Julissa Cueto Petrone, as well as several talented faculty members.
One could only dream, as these talented young ladies showed their stuff, of a performance someday on Broadway, or at Radio City Music Hall, in Lincoln Center, even — or a Beyonce video!

Even if they simply hang their pointes in the closet, they will have the distinction of having mastered the Art of Dance as a graduate of Oneida’s Dance Studio.
