During the ceremony, the surviving family members of the 43 officers on the honor roll sat up front, flanked by law enforcement from multiple departments.
Wreaths were placed on the grass around the Bergen County Law Enforcement Memorial, which sits near the entrance to the Law and Public Safety building.
Fair Lawn High School sophomores Alain Altshuler and Kat Baranova, both 16, sang the National Anthem.
The event was organized by the Bergen County Police Chiefs Association and Bergen County Police Benevolent Association.
