Seen Him? Man Tied To Mahwah Purse Snatching Dressed As Woman, Police Say

MAHWAH, N.J. -- Mahwah police investigating a purse snatching at a local supermarket issued a surveillance photo Wednesday of a man who they said disguised himself as a woman.

The "person of interest" dressed as a woman, police say.

The purse was swiped from a shopping cart at the Acme while the owner had her back turned just after noon on Tuesday, Police Chief James Batelli said.

Batelli characterized the man in the photo as a person of interest. He asked that anyone who knows him or see him contact Mahwah Detective Michael Grassi at (201) 529-1000, ext. 216.
