Mary Wall, 64, of Sunnyside Road was positively identified by family members late Monday afternoon, Lt. Michael Blondin told Daily Voice. The Bergen County Medical Examiner later determined the cold contributed to a heart attack.
"The kids were walking home from school around 3:30 when they spotted her jacket," Blondin said. "So they knocked on the door to tell her.
"When she didn't answer," he said, "they went over to the jacket and discovered it was her.
"She was holding her shovel and mostly covered in snow."
Wall's death was the fourth in North Jersey due to the storm, following the discovery of a 78-year-old New York State woman in her car in a Hackensack Burger King parking lot and the carbon monoxide deaths of a 23-year-old Passaic woman and her 1-year-old son.
