“If he could say one thing right now, it would be to take all of this attention off of him,” his sister, Megan McGill, said following a civil ceremony in which McGill was awarded military honors. “Because he was doing his job, and he was doing what he was so passionate about.”
Timothy Raymond McGill, 30 — a lifelong Ramsey resident, volunteer firefighter and member of the borough’s DPW in-between deployments — was killed Sept. 21 by an Afghan who turned his gun on a group of American soldiers during training exercises. McGill was serving as a weapons specialist with the Rhode Island National Guard.
