A car containing three girls was following the boys when the crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Bellgrove Drive at North Bayard Lane, authorities said.
Several of the boys are members of the high school boys soccer team, which beat Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood earlier Saturday, Police Chief James Batelli told Daily Voice.
"There are a lot of leaves and tree limbs down and the roads were wet," Batelli said. "That probably played a role in it."
The victims were taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.
Two township police officers responding to the scene off Airmont Avenue were OK after one cruiser rear-ended the other, Batelli said.
