MAHWAH, N.J. -- A worker was trapped in the back of a utility vehicle and had to be extricated after a crash that temporarily closed northbound Route 17 in Mahwah Thursday afternoon.
Three vehicles were involved.

Van occupants found warmth in the lobby of a nearby office building.
Traffic quickly backed up into Ramsey.
All lanes were eventually reopened within an hour.
