Newark man charged with molesting Mahwah boy, 5

YOU SAID IT HERE FIRST: A gas station attendant from Newark is charged with molesting a 5-year-old Mahwah boy.

Richard Diggs, 50, was arrested after the boy’s mother went to Mahwah police, who notified the Special Victims Unit of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

A unit investigator interviewed the boy, who “confirmed to the detective what he had previously disclosed to his mother,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said today.

Diggs of Spruce Street, was being held on $250,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with sexual assault and child endangerment.
