The 2001 Lexus was headed east on Pulis Avenue just after noon when it side-swiped a guardrail, continued down the street and hit utility pole and a mailbox before leaving the roadway, continuing across a property on Chapel Road and hitting the house, Franklin Lakes Police Lt. John Bakelaar said.

Emergency workers from Franklin Lakes, Mahwah and Ramsey responded, as did the homeowner.

CPR was administered before the driver was taken to The Valley Hospital.

Orange & Rockland Utilities temporarily disconnected power to the house.
