Mahwah woman interrupts sexual assault of daughter, 7

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A manhunt that began when a Mahwah woman found a man sexually assaulting her 7-year-old daughter ended with an arrest at a Rockland County movie theater, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this afternoon.

Tomas Marin-Martinez, 49, of Mahwah was grabbed by Suffern police at the Lafayette Theater after an alert was broadcast Monday night, the prosecutor said, adding that a tipster disclosed his location.

The girl’s mother called Mahwah police around 8 p.m after she “entered her residence and found Marin-Martinez in the process of sexually assaulting her seven-year-old daughter,” Molinelli said.

He then “fled the residence,” the prosecutor said.

Marin-Martinez was being held on Rockland County pending extradition to New Jersey on charges of aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment.
