Jill Blau, 42, of Mahwah was released pending a court hearing after the July 4th weekend incident on Kingsbridge Way, the chief said.
Officer Thomas Mitchell was taking statements from witnesses when he saw Blau drive by in the blue 2015 Lexus wagon “with parts missing and damage consistent to what was reported,” as well as two flat tires, Batelli said.
Blau, who teaches in the Clarkstown School District — and had a previous DUI arrest two years ago — was taken into custody after failing a field sobriety test, the chief said. Her vehicle was impounded, he said.
Police found her carrying eight envelopes of heroin, drug paraphernalia and assorted prescription drugs, Batelli said.
They charged her with:
leaving the scene of an accident;
failing to report it;
careless driving;
possession of heroin;
illegal possession of prescription drugs;
being under the influence of heroin;
driving under the influence;
having drugs in a motor vehicle.
Police in Clarkstown charged Blau in June 2013 with driving under the influence of drugs.
Her father later told reports that she’d had major stomach surgery and needed the prescription medicine she was taking.
