Horace R. Ashworth of Strong Street was being held on $200,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail on charges of aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment.
Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said members of his Special Victims Unit and Mahwah police arrested Ashworth yesterday after an interview with the girl.
Molinelli said she originally told her mother, who took the girl to the family’s pediatrician – who, in turn, contacted the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency.
Division workers then notified his office, Molinelli said.
