Scott McManus, 23, of Nyack was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, assault, resisting arrest, lewdness and possession of LSD, meth and Ecstasy that police said he had in his pants, Police Chief James Batelli said.

The manager of the Corporate Drive hotel told police that McManus a short time earlier began “screaming and yelling” in the parking lot, then walked to the Mahwah Municipal Building and pulled on the locked doors before returning, Batelli said.

He then entered the hotel lobby, “where he began confronting guests and stating that he wanted to have sex with them, along with other obsecenities,” the chief said.

At some point, he removed his pants, he said.

McManus was being escorted out of the building by the manager and hotel patrons when police arrived, then ran back inside and confronted the manager, “assaulting him and trying to tackle him to the ground,” Batelli said.

He then spit on one of the officers who subdued and handcuffed him, the chief said.

McManus was taken to Bergen Regional Medical Center by ambulance. A July 14 Municipal Court hearing was scheduled.
