PBA Local #143 and its department colleagues set up a collection site at headquarters to collect turkeys, canned goods, stuffing and all the other ingredients necessary for a Thanksgiving dinner over three days.
"Residents did not disappoint," Police Chief James N. Batelli said Monday.
The PBA got together with Shoprite and Blackman Plumbing Supply and delivered $5,000 worth of turkeys and $250 of canned soup this past Saturday.
Lt. Phillip Tangel spoke of the importance of officers "giving back to the community they serve, especially during the holiday season. It was a collaborative effort between law enforcement, residents and the business community."
The Mahwah Municipal Alliance also collected goods for the center.
