Officers grabbed the Bronx trio Monday night as they tried to make a getaway. They seized ten counterfeit $100 bills, along with $2,000 in cash that the defendants apparently produced by passing phony bills, Chief James Batelli said at the time (SEE: Mahwah police catch three with counterfeit $100 bills)

An investigation by Sgt. Michael Blondin led to three additional charges of receiving stolen property each against Christopher A. Moore, 27 (above, left), Bryan Guillermo, 28 (above, right), and 29-year-old Youraj Baljit (middle).

Batelli said the three victimized the Dollar Planet store in town, a Subway in Suffern and an All Fresh Market in Monsey.

In all of the incidents, the scammers bought small-price items and pocketed the change, the chief said.

“Identification was made by reviewing video camera transactions in each of the stores,” Batelli said.

During a review of the Dollar Store video, “it was determined that the fourth individual not yet identified made the purchase was counterfeit $100 currency,” the chief said.

“The link to the previous offenses was confirmed when the serial number on the counterfeit currency was identical to one seized during the original offense,” he said.
