Christie said he was headed to the Monmouth County hospital, following the luncheon at the Sheraton, to join Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and Castellano’s family — including his wife and two children, a daughter who is 4 and a son who is 1.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. in Catellano’s Howell Township hometown and reportedly brought a State Police helicopter and canine units, among other reinforcements.

According to a State Police dispatch:

“The preliminary investigation indicates that the Trooper was injured while assisting with a search of a wooded area for two occupants of an abandoned vehicle that was the subject of an earlier B.O.L.O. (Be On Look Out). A 30 year-old female, Blackwood, NJ resident was found hiding in a nearby wooded area and taken into custody in connection with the incident.

“A  search of the wooded area is being conducted for a second passenger of the vehicle.  The second passenger of the vehicle is described as an African-American male, bald, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.”

The Governor asked all those in attendance to please keep Castellano, a six-year veteran, and his family in their prayers today.
