Stuart Roger Williams, 62, Of Mahwah

MAHWAH, N.J. – Stuart Roger Williams, a resident of Mahwah and formerly of Tenafly, died Saturday, May 21. He was 62.

He was a 1973 graduate of Tenafly High School, and attended Bethany College in West Virginia receiving a B.A. in physical education, followed by a master’s degree in exercise science from Florida State University in 1979.

During his formative years, he was an active Boy Scout and received the Eagle Scout award, which is the highest rank in Boy Scouts. Upon receiving his master's degree, he worked for the Fitness and Back Institute for 10 years. He later opened his own business, Professional Fitness Consultants, L.L.C. in Paramus. His business specialized in personal fitness training for the senior population. The other component to his business was that of providing staffing and management for businesses that offered an on-site fitness facility for their employees.

He is survived by his sister, Barbara Maxwell; brother-in-law Daryl; and nephew, Ben, of Bloomington Ill.

He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Roger and Marjorie Williams.

Friends and family are invited for visitation from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Feeney Funeral Home, Ridgewood. There will be a short memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
