Rose J. Mastroyanni, 99, Of Mahwah

<AHWAH, N.J. -- Rose J. Mastroyanni passed away peacefully Thursday, March 31, 2016. She was 99. 

She was born and raised in Brooklyn, where she was a longtime resident before moving to Mahwah. 

Mastroyanni was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Church in Brooklyn and St. Gabriel’s Church in Saddle River. She was a loved member of the Senior Citizen Centers in Midland Park and Brooklyn. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Armand J. Mastroyanni; her grandson, John DiTomasso; three brothers, Benjamin, Gene and Henry; and a sister, Elvira. 

She was the mother of Margherita M. Grinchunas and her husband Richard; son Armand Mastroianni and his wife Evelyn; three grandchildren, Barbara Solazzo and her husband Vincent, Caren Soto and her husband Edwin and Paul Mastroianni and his fiancé Julia Eicher; and great grandchildren Vincent, Stephen and Michael Solazzo and Alexander, Nolan, Ella and Ava Soto; and an aunt to many nieces and nephews. 

Mastroyanni will be remembered for her extraordinary gift of touching the lives of all who knew her in her warm, special way. Her legacy is one of selflessness and grace. She cherished each and every moment and found strength in God in times of suffering. 

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Queens, NY.
