A 20-inch storm drain pipe under the roadway collapsed along with the surrounding roadway, Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli told Daily Voice shortly after the incident.

There was no danger to the railroad tracks and trains were operating on a normal schedule, he said.

J. Fletcher Creamer was handling the repair work on the stretch known as Ramapo Valley Road.
