Ramapo Reservation Reopens To Hikers As Bear Threat Subsides

BERGEN/PASSAIC COUNTY, N.J. -- Bergen County announced Tuesday the re-opening of Ramapo Reservation as the bear threat diminishes.

The 4,200-acre woods that boarder Bergen and Passaic counties have been closed since Oct. 5 due to aggressive bear encounters. 

Officials with the state Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Fish and Wildlife have been euthanizing bears in the Ramapo Mountain State Forest.
