Under the new, lower budget, the proposed tax rate is 38.6 cents per $100 in assessed valuation, meaning a home assessed at $485,000, would see a tax increase of $18.94, said NorthJersey.com.
Items still in the budget included money for three new police vehicles, a new employee in public works and money to purchase an ambulance, according to NorthJersey.com. The council is required to have a public hearing and adoption vote on the budget by April 28, added NorthJersey.com.
