Kezmarsky is undergoing stem cell transplants in his battle against multiple myeloma.

The rare form of cancer affects the plasma cells and bone marrow, said Schepisi, who created a Go Fund Me page for Kezmarsky.

"Ben and his family face mounting medical expenses and need all of our help," Schepisi wrote. "Ben is one of the most generous people I know and he was very reticent in allowing me to even put this page up on his family's behalf."

Kezmarsky oversees the Mahwah School Foundation.

"Ben does it with a big smile and never wants anything in return," Schepisi said.

The goal is to raise $30,000. In two days, supporters pledged half that total.
