Her latest story, "In Ruins," about a young adult beginning her first year of college on a fabricated version of Hofstra University's campus, features flashbacks set in a fictional Long Island town, partially named after where Pearl grew up.
The Mahwah resident said she draws inspiration from a combination of real-life experiences, observations -- "and one wild, twisted imagination." Most of her books -- "In Ruins" is her fourth -- are set in and around New York City and its suburbs. The novel, published by Hachette, will be released Tuesday, Oct. 4.
Pearl, a mom of three, is already the Amazon and iBooks bestselling author of the "Something More" series and is known for her Young Adult and New Adult Contemporary Romance novels.
Her first book, "Normal," published in 2014, was written with a mission and a message that's very important to her, and thanks to self-publishing pioneers in the new adult genre like Tammara Webber and Colleen Hoover, she knew there was "a platform in place to get in into the hands of at least some readers."
"Of course, I never dreamed so many would embrace Rory's story, especially since it's far from a flowery romance," said Pearl. "But readers demanded more of Rory and Sam, so I sat down to write the next installment of the 'Something More' series, and never looked back."
She's currently working on "In Pieces," the follow-up to "In Ruins," which will be the next standalone spinoff of the Hachette series. It will follow Beth Caplan, Sam Caplan's younger sister, whom readers first met in "Normal," and who also makes a few appearances in "In Ruins"
Pearl is also planning to release the first book in a new, as-yet-unnamed romantic suspense series in the spring of 2017.
